Kamaljot Kaur, Zoe Rowley among top performers in YPL U15 girls cricket carnival

The future is bright in Victorian women’s cricket with these youngsters putting on a show in this year’s Youth Premier League U15 girls state carnival. See the top performers.

It was an action-packed five rounds of Youth Premier League U15 girls cricket with plenty of youngsters showcasing their skills in the representative tournament.

Country South East Sharks took home the title after defeating metropolitan Northern Falcons by six wickets in the grand final at Junction Oval.

Following the tournament, Leader Cricket have put together a list of the top performers from the campaign with the best starting at the top.

Kamaljot Kaur, Metropolitan Outer South

It is hard to go past Kamaljot Kaur as the best performing player in the tournament after she finished as the second highest run scorer and second highest wicket taker. Kaur’s unbeaten century of 114 was a major highlight in her YPL series which saw her score a total of 234 runs and 11 wickets. She had a game to remember against the Inner South East Scorpions after taking 6-10 from seven overs.

Zoe Rowley, Metropolitan Northern

It was a marvellous tournament for Zoe Rowley who finished the series as the highest wicket taker with 13 and a handy contribution with the bat with 126 runs. A five-wicket haul of 5-4 from four overs against the Barwon Rockets was the highlight for Rowley who played a big role in her team’s qualification in the grand final.

Inakshi Sehgal, Metropolitan North West

Inakshi Sehgal was the leading run scorer in the tournament with a total of 263 runs at an average of 66. It wasn’t just with the bat where Sehgal was useful, she also took seven wickets for Western Spirit, capping off a great tournament for the exciting prospect. A brilliant century of 120 against Barwon Rockets in round 1 was the highlight of her campaign.

Riva Guliya, Metropolitan South East Bayside

With 10 wickets from five matches, Riva Guliya finished as the equal third highest wicket taker in the series. She was a consistent performer throughout the tournament with best figures of 3-9. She also scored a total of 59 runs with the bat from four innings.

Pearl Kapoor, Metropolitan West

It was an impressive tournament for Pearl Kapoor who took five wickets and scored the third most runs in the tournament with 198. She scored two half centuries in five innings and almost reached a century with 92 in one of the knocks.

Ishita Tiwari, Metropolitan South East Bayside

Ishita Tiwari was a consistent contributor with the bat throughout the tournament for South East Bayside. The youngster scored below 35 just once in her five hits and finished with the fourth most runs at 189.

Ananya Mahajan, Metropolitan West

Consistency with ball in hand was a key attribute in Ananya Mahajan’s tournament. The Western Spirit bowler took 10 wicket, the equal-third most in the campaign. She also scored 57 with the bat from four innings which included two unbeaten knocks.

Issy Boulton, Country Mallee Murray

An incredible unbeaten 124 off 130 balls against Northern Rivers in round 1 was the highlight of Issy Boulton’s tournament. It was the highest score for the series which featured 21 boundaries including three sixes. Boulton finished as the fifth highest run scorer with 161 runs.

Shenali Fernando, Country South East

Shenali Fernando had a promising tournament with bat and ball taking seven wickets, the equal-fifth most and scoring 76 runs from four innings. A five-wicket haul against the Northern Falcons in the her team’s grand final victory was the highlight of her tournament. Fernando took 5-11 in the match which included three maidens from her 7.2 overs. She also finished unbeaten in two of her four knocks and scored a half century of 52 against the Eagles in round 1.

Grace Barnes, Country South East

With 148 runs, Grace Barnes scored the sixth most runs in the tournament for Country South East. She also smashed two maximums, showcasing the power of the youngster.

Shameka Grero, Country Central Highlands

Shameka Grero finished as the equal fourth highest wicket taker in the tournament with eight wickets from five matches. She had best figures of 3-3 against Northern Falcons in round 5.

Bhanu Mahendran, Country South East

It was a successful tournament for Bhanu Mahendran who took six wickets and was dismissed just once in her five knocks for Country South East. She scored 133 runs with a high score of 46 not out.

Amy Long, Metropolitan Northern

It was a solid all-round display for Amy Long in her YPL U15s tournament. She scored 98 runs for the campaign from four innings and took seven wickets.

Holly Fulton, Metropolitan Northern

An unbeaten 50 was the highlight of Holly Fulton’s tournament where she finished as the seventh highest run scorer with a total of 141 runs.

Annie Taylor, Country Barwon

An unbeaten 94 in round 1 was the highlight of Annie Taylor’s tournament where she scored a total of 123 from four innings. Her standout performance was the fourth highest score of the tournament.

Tanya Arul, Metropolitan Outer East

It was a promising campaign with the bat for Tanya Arul who scored 125 runs which included an impressive half century of 69 against the tournament champions South East Sharks in round 1.

Chloe Sewell, Country Barwon

An unbeaten 74 in round 1 was the highlight of Chloe Sewell’s tournament where she scored 117 runs from five hits.

Jazz Anstee, Country Gippsland

With eight wickets from five matches, Jazz Anstee was the equal fourth highest wicket taker in the competition.
