REPLAY: Australian U18's Boys Hockey Championships - VIC vs NSW Blue

U18 boys, Pool A: Victoria 3 — NSW Blue 0

Victoria’s top boys side has gotten its championship campaign off to a flyer, accounting for New South Wales Blue on the back of a dominant second half display.

While the match was a lot closer than what the end scoreboard suggested following an even first half with the scores locked at 0-0 at the main break, Victoria broke the stranglehold in the third term courtesy of a field goal to Marshall Oliver.

It took the momentum into the final quarter with majors to Nye Roberts and Declan Anderson just four minutes apart to cap off a 3-0 win.

REPLAY: Australian U18's Girls Hockey Championships - QLD vs NSW Blue

U18 girls, Crossover: QLD 6 — NSW Blue 2

Queensland has sent an ominous message to its competitors in its match-up with New South Wales Blue, with a 6-2 win in its opening clash.

Led by a stunning performance from skipper Claire Colwill who finished with three goals alongside Hannah Callum-Sanders with two, the winners piled on three in the opening 15 minutes to race away to a 3-0 buffer.

A determined New South Wales Blue hit back in the second through back-to-back goals to Millie Fulton and Chloe Harms to draw the margin back to one at the half, but Queensland steadied after the break via Georgina West in the third and usual suspects Colwill and Callum-Sanders in the last.

REPLAY: Australian U18's Boys' Hockey Championships - QLD vs WA

U18 boys, Crossover: WA 3 — QLD 0

It was a stalemate for the bulk of the contest, but Western Australia has banked its first win of the tournament thanks to its early ascendency.

It hit the ground running with a 2-0 lead over Queensland on the back of goals to Chaz Davies in the first term followed by Thomas Keating in the second to take a comfortable lead into halftime.

But it was an arm-wrestle after the break as Queensland looked to fight its way back into the contest – however Western Australia’s Hamish Adamson put paid to those plans after he found the back of the net in the last to put the result beyond doubt.

The winners put the win beyond the Vics’ reach early in the piece, taking a 4-0 lead into half-time as the onslaught continued into the third and fourth.
