It was a double victory for the Geelong United Supercats teams on Saturday night, with both the men and women getting the win against the visiting Dandenong Rangers.

The women started the night off at a sold out Geelong Arena with a quick 9-0 run to get their game going from the tip-off, and controlled the contest from start to finish.

The Rangers showed signs of life in the second quarter, drawing level and taking the lead for a short time, before Geelong was able to steady and maintain a six-point lead at the main break.

The lead was extended again in the third quarter, with some brilliant defensive steals leading to fast break buckets for Agnieska Skobel.

Dandenong kept coming in the final quarter, but the Supercats were able to hold them off to cement the 92-84 win.

Skobel was outstanding for Geelong, finishing with 24 points to go with four steals and three assists, while Chantel Horvat and Sarah Elsworthy each finished with 21 points and eight rebounds.

Ella Tofaeono was big on the boards, grabbing 11 rebounds to go with 10 points, before fouling out in the fourth quarter.

Meanwhile, the Geelong United Supercats men made it two from two for the night with their 89-73 win over Dandenong, an important victory for the team after dropping three games before the long weekend break.

Demarcus Gatlin led the charge for the Supercats, the captain dropping 28 points while grabbing eight boards, dishing out five assists and snagging three steals.

Back-to-back three-pointers from Gatlin in the last three minutes of the game all but sealed the win for the Supercats, before his monster dunk off a George Blagojevic alley-oop brought the house down.

Immediately followed by a Rangers turnover which resulted in a Gabe Hadley three-point swish, the crowd were on their feet for the final seconds of the 16-point win.

However, new recruit Matt McCarthy struggled to balance the physicality of the game in his first outing for the team, picking up three quick fouls in the first five minutes of the match and was forced to play limited minutes before fouling out late in the third quarter.
