FLYING winger Elvis Kamsoba ran rings around Tasmanian side Devonport Strikers to inspire Avondale FC to a 4-1 FFA Cup victory on Tuesday.
Kamsoba was one of four goalscorers for the National Premier League side as it progressed to the last eight of the national tournament after a commanding display at Broadmeadows Valley Park.

He netted the Avengers’ third goal eight minutes from the final whistle, putting the result beyond doubt after strikes from Kaine Sheppard and Ross Archibald had given Avondale FC a 2-1 halftime lead.
Goalkeeper Chris Oldfield said he hoped A-League clubs were paying attention to Kamsoba’s cup heroics.
“Playing against him, he’s very difficult to read because he has got such a low centre of gravity,” Oldfield said.
“He turns so sharply, you can’t judge what he is going to do. If you commit to him, he’ll just skip past you.
“He’s a fantastic talent and people need to look at him from the next level.
“He’s been brilliant all season for us and he deserves a chance.”
Kamsoba was instrumental in the opening goal as he cut inside from the left flank before teeing up Sheppard in the 20th minute.
Devonport allowed the Avengers to dictate possession and their dominance was rewarded when Archibald headed home a corner to double his side’s lead.
Visiting captain Brayden Mann pulled a goal back three minutes before halftime from the penalty spot, but Devonport rarely threatened during the second period.
Avondale was in the driver’s seat when Guillermo Lazcano was sent off for a rash tackle on Joey Katebian and Kamsoba and Jonatan Germano sealed the result in the final 10 minutes against the 10-man Strikers.
“We were in cruise control,” Oldfield said.
“They didn’t really put much pressure on us really. We just played the ball around and they sat off us.”
Oldfield said reaching the last eight was a monumental achievement for Avondale FC, which was playing State League 3 soccer as recently as 2012.
“The club are over the moon. They’re so excited, there’s a buzz around the club which is good to see,” he said.
The Avengers will also feature in NPL finals this year and host South Melbourne on Saturday from 3pm.
