Just as he did in the John Craig Shield last season, Geelong’s Oliver Peake is totting up runs and tons in the Victorian Premier Cricket Dowling Shield series.

The left-hander, the son of former Victorian batsman Clint, broke the record for the most runs in the Sub-District cricket Under 15 Craig Shield last season.

He is still eligible to play in the Craig Shield.

Instead he’s playing – and dominating – the Under 17 Dowling series.

Peake started the series with 114 against Essendon on Sunday, and today he hit 101 off 111 deliveries against Melbourne at Beaumaris Secondary College.

It lifted the Cats to 4-267, wicketkeeper Micah Robb giving the innings a late flurry with 49 not out off 42 balls.

Peake was eventually out caught off the bowling of Jack Harwood, the son of ex-Victorian quickie Shane.

Melbourne was 2-157 in its reply but collapsed to be all out for 185, with Cat Ted Bain capturing 4-32 off his 10 overs.

Opener Xander Buxton (81) was one of Bain’s victims.

Runs flowed at Casey Fields, where Casey South Melbourne pair Atharv Deshpande and Ashwin Mehta hit centuries against Frankston Peninsula.

Their partnership for the third wicket realised 188 as the Swans amassed 3-264.

Deshpande opened and batted through the innings for 101 not out, off 143 balls and with 6 fours.

Mehta struck 112, blazing 5 sixes and 5 fours in a 103-ball stay.

Both are players are in the Swans’ Second XI.

But the Heat put in a superb chase, coming in with 3-265.

Opener Thivi Salwathura packed 6 sixes into his 96-ball 113 and partner Charlie Costa made 66. Max Walker (32no) and Sam Goves (31no) eased the visitors past the target in the 43rd over.

Richmond’s Jack Iverson was another batsman into three figures.

The No 3 scored 114 off 116 balls in the Tigers’ victory over Melbourne University, putting away 12 fours and 2 sixes.

His stand with Max Parker was worth 147 for the third wicket, with Parker clipping 74 off 94 deliveries.

The Tigers ran up 8-274 at Central Reserve. Uni (9-200) never really threatened.

Dandenong captain Brodie Richardson played an excellent innings against Kingston Hawthorn on a desperately slow Greaves Reserve outfield.

The right-hander lifted his side from 5-36 to 8-167 as he crafted 67 not out off 142 balls.

He hit 4 fours and 1 six; only four other shots reached or went over the boundary.

Richardson was helped in the late overs by Ryan Webster (33) and Jordan Lynn (15).

Opening bowler Cory Cater snaffled 3-30 off 10 overs for the Hawks, who were seven wickets down when they passed Dandenong’s total in the final over.

Northcote’s Will Lalor cracked 92 not out (10 fours, 1 six) off 104 balls as his team hit 5-146 in reply to Carlton’s 141. William Waters and Zac Mills both took four wickets for the Dragons.

Frankston Peninsula openers Thivi Salwathura and Charlie Costa put on 144 against Casey South Melbourne.

Essendon had a comfortable win too, losing two wickets and using only 33.1 overs to run down Greenvale Kangaroos’ 9-180.

Bombers skipper Lucas Cavigan hit 60 and opening partner Kane Scott, who was prominent in the Youth Premier League series, made 49.

No 6 Bohden Learmonth, from Kyabram Fire Brigade, hit an even 50 for the Kangas.

Footscray (3-188) made it consecutive wins when it moved past St Kilda’s 9-186, Arjun Sehrawat (four) and Muhammad Abdul Rafay (three) taking seven wickets between them and day-one centurymaker Mitchell Jamieson getting 50.

Darcy Gregory-Francis snaffled 4-27 off 9.5 overs as Fitzroy-Doncaster bowled out Camberwell Magpies for 112.
