What a time to produce your best bowling figures.

Skye opening bowler Samantha Verhagen was the talk of her club after unleashing a magical spell against Frankston in a CV Women’s Community South One Day semi-final on Sunday.

Nicknamed “Skittles” after skittling an opposition side last season, the 17-year-old was at it again, grabbing 5-0 off 5.5 overs to send Frankston crashing all out for 60.

Skye, in reply, coasted to 0-61 in the 14th over to book its place in the grand final, and the chance to put the cap on a dominant, undefeated season.

The Chickaburras will be shooting for back-to-back flags when they meet Officer in the decider at Skye Reserve on Sunday.

Skittles’ spectacular spell last weekend had her teammates buzzing.

“How fantastic to get your best figures in a semi,” Skye skipper Stacey Dorbolo said.

“She was very impressive and targeted off stump. She was dead on.”

Verhagen’s outdid her previous best figures of 5-10, which including a hat-trick, taken in a game for Skye last season.

Skye will go into the grand final confident, and with numerous match winners.

Tori Russell and Kylie Walters both scored sparkling centuries in the Chickaburras’ win over Kingston Heath in January, and Walters is the competition’s premier batter with 461 runs, at 230.5.

Dorbolo says her side’s plan will be as it always is — to have fun.

“I’m just so proud of them all because the thing is, if we go out there and play our game, back each other and have fun I think we’ll get the job done,” she said.

In other women’s cricket grand finals this Sunday, Frankston will host Monash University in the Shield One Day comp.

Melbourne University meets Ballarat in the North West A final.

Westmeadows and Craigieburn clash in the North West B final.

The East A final will be between Launching Place United and Norwood, while Wyclif will host Belgrave in the East B decider.
