Fire and guile.

Dan Mueller had it, and more, as he captured 4-15 off eight hostile overs against South Caulfield in a Championship division semi-final on Saturday.

The 42-year-old tore through the South top order as Bonbeach (8-168) shot out the reigning premiers for 98 to secure a grand final berth.

South Caulfield will look to bounce back in this weekend’s preliminary final against Beaumaris.

Mueller was red hot on Saturday, combining with Timothy Mulholland (3-14) to have South Caulfield reeling at 6-40.

“The old boy Muels wound back the clock a bit,” Bonbeach president Mick Hogan said.

“We’ve been struggling to get him fit to be honest. The last two games, (skipper) Tom Smith has given him the new rock and he’s bowled very well up top.”

Hogan said Mueller was at his hostile best.

“It was a super spell,” he said.

“When he takes wickets he gets his tail up and gets an extra spring in his step.”

South Caulfield sorely missed its skipper Brad Erasmus, who was handed a three-game suspension at the tribunal last week, ending his season.

Kanishka Alvitigala was South’s top scorer with 35.

Beaumaris ended Bentleigh’s season in the other semi-final.

Sharks captain Cameron Watts took 3-19 off 8 overs, including the big scalp of Englishman Ben Seabrook (1), to restrict the Demons to 8-111 off 40 overs.

In reply, Beaumaris rushed to victory in the 23rd over, making 4-112, with Sam Coates (23) and Lachlan Fryer (36no) doing the job.

In Division 1, Carnegie coach Ashish Harsolia scored his maiden century for the club to set up victory over Dingley.

Harsolia made 103 off 116 balls at the top of the order to help the Neggie to 220.

In reply, Dingley rushed to 0-80 but was held to 8-206, with Aarun Tong taking 4-31.
