Aspendale has surged into the top four in Cricket Southern Bayside’s Division 2.

And the Dales have done so on the back of a blistering maiden century by former Richmond AFL player Brett O’Hanlon.

The 29-year-old, who’d gone close to three figures with a couple of 90s in recent seasons, crunched 102, with 19 fours, to set up Aspendale’s 5-234 against Bentleigh.

Runs flowed as O’Hanlon and Jack Sullivan shared a 139-run second wicket partnership.

In reply, Bentleigh opener Alan Glenton carried his bat to make an unbeaten 103 but the Demons were held to 4-182 after disciplined bowling by new addition Dylan Campbell (1-23 off 8 overs) and Alex Cortese (2-22 off 6 overs).

Campbell joined Aspendale last month after leaving Mornington Peninsula club Langwarrin.

With three wins, Aspendale is in fourth spot.

Cheltenham chased down Parkdale’s 190 with one ball and one wicket in hand to take a firm grip on top spot in Division 2.

Chelt opener Declan McComb top scored with 45 and skipper Luke Wintle hit 32 before tailenders Matt Andrews and Mark Rapp dug in to push the side over the line.

A measured, unbeaten 82 by former Sri Lankan first-class player Chamindu Mathra and 70 not out by star English import Ben Seabrook steered Bentleigh to a resounding eight-wicket win over Hampton in Championship division.

Both players are having splendid seasons; Mathra is up to 233 runs, at 46.60, while Seabrook has churned out 438 runs, at 146, with one century and four half tons.

They’ve helped Bentleigh to three wins in a row to consolidate second spot.

Glamorgan all-rounder Lukas Carey took 4-56 and made 28 to set up Bonbeach’s four-wicket win over Mentone.

Sharks skipper Tom Smith put the icing on the cake with 64 off 73 balls (5 fours, 3 sixes) and opener Bryce O’Connor made 31 as Bonbeach, on a five-game tear, consolidated top spot.

South Caulfield scored a clinical win over Beaumaris to climb to third spot.

Opener Lewis Mildenhall (54) and English import Harry Bates (38 off 27 balls) fired in a score of 7-204 before Callum Nankervis (3-17) helped dismiss Beauie for 175.
