With his teammates urging him to “go for history”, Mohit Mandora achieved every bowler’s dream on Saturday.

The 22-year-old paceman took all 10 wickets while playing for Cranbourne Meadows in a Casey Cardinia Cricket Association B Grade match.

He collected 10-61 off 17.5 overs to single-handedly dismiss Tooradin for 111.

Initially, Mandora thought luck was against him when two catches were dropped off his bowling in the gully.

But with the score 0-30, he clean bowled Tooradin’s opener to begin his wicket feast.

“My team cheer me up and they said, ‘Mohit, we can do it. And it’s too hot to field. Please do us a favour’,” Mandora laughed.

“So I got a couple more wickets.

“After three wickets they said, ‘Mohit, you can go for five-for’.”

With his tail up, Mandora soon had five wickets and that’s when a rare 10-for was mooted.

“They said, ‘Mohit maybe you can get 10-for’, he said.

“I said, ‘no man, it’s not possible’. They said, ‘anything’s possible. You can do it’.”

When he had eight wickets, Cranbourne Meadows teammate Onkar Singh, who was bowling at the other end, started bowling wide of off stump.

Mandora, whose previous best figures were 5-17, admitted he was becoming frustrated trying to get the last two wickets.

“The ninth and 10th wickets they were so hard to get them out but finally I got the ninth with an outswinger,” he said.

“But the 10th wicket...they were stopping the ball, leaving the ball…

“My captain told me to bowl a slower ball, change the line, make bouncer, I did everything.”

With the second last ball of his 18th over, Mandora enticed an edge from Tooradin’s No. 11 batter and wicketkeeper Jass Dhaliwal took the history-making catch.

“I went home and told my family, I told my friends, then I had a couple of beers then I went to bed,” the man of the moment said.

Mandora, a nurse who works in aged care in Carnegie, will have the chance to take even more wickets, with Cranbourne Meadows set to try for an outright victory when the match resumes on Saturday.

After Tooradin was dismissed, Cranbourne Meadows, in reply, rushed to 4-164 off 25 overs — a lead of 53. Dhaliwal smashed 106, his third century.

Dhaliwal said Mandora could go on and complete a huge match.

“We’re thinking of probably starting bowling straight away next week so he might end up with, I don’t know, maybe 20,” Dhaliwal laughed.

Dhaliwal said Mandora was a quality fast bowler who regularly reaches speeds of between 120-130kph.

“Once he got going he rattled them,” he said.
