After a week off due to Easter, Big V Basketball returned in a big way at the weekend.
There were a number of impressive performers.
Here are who we rated as the top 10.
Jorden Adnam, Whittlesea, Division 2 Men
As Whittlesea broke through for its second win of the season, Adnam produced a fantastic display at both ends of the floor. He finished with 31 points on 12-24 shooting and 14 rebounds in just over 24 minutes of action.
Sharna Appleby, Altona, Division 2 Women
Appleby is becoming a regular feature in this weekly list as she puts together a fantastic season for the undefeated Gators. Against Corio Bay on Sunday, Appleby finished with 23 points, nine rebounds, five steals and a block.
Daryl Corletto, Western Port, Championship Men
The Steelers broke through for their first two wins of the season at the weekend and former NBL player Corletto was one of the reasons why. He had 31 points including seven threes in a big win over Blackburn. He also finished with seven rebounds, six assists, two steals and a block in the same game.
Kavione Green, Wyndham, Championship Men
The American import enjoyed arguably his best performance of the season on Saturday night as Wyndham made it seven straight wins. Green finished with 37 points on 13-21 shooting, 18 rebounds, three assists and two steals in a dominant display.
Ariel Hearn, Sherbrooke, Division 1 Women
The Suns are undefeated through four games of basketball and Hearn is one of the reasons why. Hearn put together another sensational performance on the weekend as she finished with 27 points, seven rebounds and five steals in a 66-61 win over Warrnambool away from home.
Anthony Hill, Mildura, Division 2 Men
The Heat’s import had a triple-double as his side won on Saturday night as he had 33 points on 15-22 shooting, 18 rebounds, 10 assists and three steals. Hill then backed it up with 28 points in a narrow loss to Maccabi on Sunday.
Dareon Jones, Southern Peninsula, Division 1 Men
Jones’ big performance proved pivotal as the Sharks held on in a 88-84 thriller against Coburg. He finished with 36 points, seven rebounds and five assists in a dominant display.
Lauren Jones, Wyndham, Championship Women
Jones produced one of the best displays of all-round basketball with a fantastic display in her side’s big win over Sunbury. She had 30 points on 10-19 shooting along with five steals and five rebounds.
Grace Moxey, Blackburn, Division 2 Women
Despite the Vikings going down in a big loss against Coburg, Moxey did everything in her power to keep her side in the game. She finished with 26 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and a block in a brilliant fighting display.
Haille Nickerson, Pakenham, Championship Women
The Warriors star was in outstanding form once again as she finished with 22 points, six rebounds and five assists in her side’s big win over Chelsea 84-60.
