The imports have continued to shine in the Big V Basketball competition while several locals put their names up in lights. Here are our top 10 players of the week.

The Big V season is just heating up after another exciting weekend of action.
Here are our 10 top players from across the weekend.
Sharna Appleby, Altona, Division 2 Women
Talk about impact off the bench. Appleby lit up her side’s big win over Surf Coast with 27 points on 11-21 shooting which included 64 per cent from two-point range. She was also a big factor on the boards with nine and four steals to round off a terrific performance in 31 minutes of action.
Sharif Black, McKinnon, Championship Men
Despite finding himself on the losing side, there’s not too much more Black could have done to will his side across the line. He finished with 33 points on 11-14 shooting in 35 minutes of play. Black also have five rebounds and four assists.
Joe Davis, Pakenham, Division 2 Men
The Canadian import continued his hot start to the season with two big performances as the Warriors won both their games during a double header weekend. He had 24 points and eight rebounds on Saturday night before coming off the bench to have a double-double, 24 points and 12 rebounds, on Sunday afternoon.
Tyler Erard, Corio Bay, Division 1 Men
In an efficient display off the bench, Erard put together the type of minutes coaches dream of from players outside their starting five. Erard had 21 points, seven rebounds and three assists in just 22 minutes to help Corio Bay to an 11-point win over Collingwood.
Ariel Hearn, Sherbrooke, Division 1 Women
Hearn showed the importance of making free throws as 13 of her 33 points against Bellarine came from the line in her side’s win. Hearn also finished with 16 rebounds and eight assists as she went extremely close to a huge triple-double as Sherbrooke continued their winning ways.
Samantha Keltos, Western Port, Division 1 Women
Keltos is quickly establishing herself as one of the must watch players across the entire women’s competition. She enjoyed her biggest game of the season with 28 points and 21 rebounds including six offensive boards as the Steelers got the better of Camberwell by seven points. Keltos found herself in everything defensively with three steals and two blocks.
Siobhan Mac Aodha, Coburg, Division 2 Women
The Coburg star found herself in everything as the Giants came away with an 11-point win over Corio Bay. She finished with 28 points on 12-24 shooting including two made shots from deep. Teammates also found themselves involved on the back of Mac Aodha’s seven assists. There were no turnovers in an impressive display.
Makuei Puondak, Hume City, Championship Men
As Hume City finished its double header weekend with a win and a loss, Puondak put together two monster displays for his side. On Saturday night, he finished with 21 points, 23 rebounds and three assists in the win over Western Port. He then backed it up with 23 points and 13 rebounds in his side’s 14-point loss to Blackburn.
Amelia Smith, Melbourne University, Division 1 Women
Melbourne University might have gone down to Warrandyte at the weekend but without the efforts of Smith they might not have been in the game to begin with. Smith starred with 29 points and 14 rebounds to inspire her side but in the end the Venom were far too good as they ran out seven-point winners.
Dylan Wilkie, Shepparton, Division 1 Men
Wilkie had it raining threes for Shepparton at the weekend with two big displays. He finished with 19 points in seven minutes on Saturday night against Bellarine with 5-7 from deep. Wilkie then backed it up with 22 points and three rebounds in the Gators second win of the weekend against Southern Peninsula.
