Woolies Karingal Hub store to close to public, transform into online delivery centre
One of the two Woolies stores at Karingal is set to be closed to the public and transformed into an online delivery hub in a bid to distribute more groceries to locals in need. And it comes after an employee returned a positive COVID-19 test.

Woolworths Karingal Hub will be closed to the public and transformed into an online delivery hub from Sunday night.
But shoppers desperate for their favourite Woolies items will still be able to get their fix within the State Government’s strict 5km travel boundary, with the second Karingal Hub store remaining open for usual trade.
The Langwarrin and Frankston locations will also trade as normal, with team members at the recently closed BIG W Karingal Hub redeployed to help prepare online deliveries.
All employees in the converted store will be retained to either pick online orders or work in neighbouring stores, with management assuring there would be no job losses.
The Karingal Hub store will close to the public at 7.30pm on Sunday.
“This conversion will allow us to offer thousands more home delivery orders to local residents each week, including priority assistance orders for our most vulnerable customers,”
Woolworths Supermarkets Victorian general manager Andrew Hall said.
“The store has been carefully picked to minimise the impact on local shoppers … the demand for online delivery continues to grow with more customers seeking to limit their outings or (completing) self-isolation.”
It comes after a Karingal Hub worker returned a positive coronavirus test, with the store one of 36 Melbourne locations to be hit by the disease.
And seven more infections were announced over the past 48 hours at Blackburn North, Cranbourne East, Cranbourne North, Dandenong, St Helena, St Kilda and Point Cook.
