A Frankston apartment tower with a rooftop deck and stunning bay views spanning across Melbourne is set to bring 800 jobs to the region.

And the 79-dwelling residential development at 1-2 Plowmans Pl has been named Horizon as the Port Phillip Bay’s picturesque horizon can be seen from each level.

The mammoth project, set opposite Frankston oval, is set to get underway early next year.

About 800 people — mostly from the Frankston area — will be employed for the 18-month build, including concreters, plumbers, electricians, tilers, renderers, site foremen, project managers, architects, service and traffic engineers and marketing personnel.

Developer Urban DC director Danny Ciarma said there would be as many as 140 workers on site at any given time to construct the tower, which consists of one, two and three bedroom apartments with a rooftop exercise space.

“The plans include a 300sq m rooftop deck, fully landscaped with pergola and seating area for relaxing or exercising with views of the bay and Melbourne,” he told the Leader.

“There will be a ground floor, fully fitted office meeting rooms for occupants who work from home, concierge service to receive deliveries and schedule free time activities for occupants, as well as water views for most apartments.”

The dwellings include 18 one-bedroom apartments with one car space which start at $480,000, 32 two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartments with one car space from $760,000 and 29 three-bedroom, two-bathroom apartments with two car spaces from $1.027m.

The building’s curved facade, designed by Elenberg Fraser Architects, also features built-in planter boxes and a rooftop communal garden.

“The site is elevated and has sweeping water views from ground level which will never be

blocked out,” Mr Ciarma said.

Mr Ciarma said he thought the apartments would particularly appeal to first home buyers and downsizers, and that ongoing work opportunities would be made available post-construction including maintenance contractors, gardening and cleaning roles.

“I am pleased that council understood the quality we were striving for with Horizon and am excited to start construction,” he said.

Frankston mayor Sandra Mayer said the project would provide a much-needed boost to the region following the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I’m so proud we were able to support this important project which will provide a much

needed boost for those looking for jobs and homes locally,” she said.

“The plans look great and are proof that developers still have confidence in investing in

Frankston city.

“Even in this tough economic climate we have so much to look forward to.”
