Three men have been arrested after an alleged “well planned” jewellery heist in Dandenong central which left a worker bound and gagged and saw up to $2.5m of jewellery stolen.

A 66-year-old Doncaster man, a 60-year-old Pakenham man and a 38-year-old Narre Warren man were arrested on Wednesday morning.

It comes after two men allegedly entered the Dandenong jewellery shop on December 29 about 6pm and threatened a worker with a knife.

Police allege the pair, who were wearing gloves, allegedly tied-up the victim up with cable ties and gagged him as they robbed the store.

Dandenong detectives said the men allegedly drove away in the victim’s car, before ditching it and swapping into a silver Toyota Camry.

“(It will be alleged) It was very well planned, they were quick and efficient and got away without anyone noticing them,” detective Sergeant Craig West said.

“I’ve worked here for eight years and I haven’t seen anything like this before.”

After the alleged offenders left the store, the worker managed to go outside and flag down help.

Sgt West said the victim, who wasn’t physically injured, was still “traumatised” from the event.

“The victim is traumatised and very concerned,” he said.

“It’s a terrible thing to happen in the workplace.”

The men allegedly stole 21-carat gold necklaces, bracelets, pendants, rings and cash with a total value of between $2m and $2.5m.

The three men are assisting police with their inquiries.
