Thomas Mitchell Primary School is the latest school to close following a positive coronavirus test.
In a letter sent out to the community on Monday, July 27, the Endeavour Hills school advised of the 72-hour closure letting parents, students and carers know classrooms would be shut
“The DHHS has confirmed that a staff member has tested positive for coronavirus,” the letter said.
“The school, an out of school hours care will be closed to all students, staff and members of the of the community.”
This comes after Casey has recorded 21 new cases since Sunday.
Another 532 new cases and six deaths were recorded on Monday, with the biggest surge in active cases was recorded in northern hotspot Whittlesea (327, +65), followed by Yarra Ranges (80, +43) in the outer east.
Both areas have had large aged care outbreaks — in Epping and Kilsyth nursing homes.
Other east and southeastern areas to record large surges included Maroondah (50, +26), Casey (178, +21) and Greater Dandenong (99, +12).
There are no plans for a downgrade to Stage 4 but Premier Daniel Andrews has refused to rule it out completely as he revealed nine out of 10 people did not stay at home when sick.
