Hundreds of hyped up punters dressed to impress at the Sportsbet Pakenham Cup 2024.
The gates to the Pakenham Racing Club in Tynong opened from 5pm on Friday, and gave racegoers a twilight horse racing experience.
Located just an hour’s drive of Melbourne on the city fringe, the Pakenham Cup has been described as the “crown jewel” in Victorian racing infrastructure.
The racing club first opened in March 2015, being one of the first new Victorian racecourses to be built in more than 40 years.
The club is also the state’s busiest — hosting more than 35 race meetings per season and is equipped to host meets all year round, regardless of weather conditions.
The venue features a 2400m Turf Track and a 2000m synthetic track.
In April 2016, the club became the third Victorian racecourse to host an evening race meeting, hosting almost 20 night meetings throughout the racing season.
Racegoers were in for a thrill, where they betted to win big and fashionistas entered the fashions on the field competition for their chance to win some incredible prizes.
The Herald Sun also trekked their way to the cup to take pictures of racegoers in their snazzy outfits, and plenty of racegoers got in on the photo action.
