Teen’s head stomped on during fight outside of Westfield Fountain Gate

Disgusting video footage has emerged of a teen’s head being stomped on during a violent brawl in Melbourne’s south east.

It’s believed the fight happened outside Westfield Fountain Gate around 4.15pm on Sunday.

The footage shows two teens kicking and punching one another with one teen stomping on the other one’s head after he fell to the ground.

A crowd gathered around the thugs with some filming the incident.

A shopper, who witnessed the fight but asked not to be named, told Leader he saw the group of teenagers exit the centre.

“I didn’t think much of it but a few minutes later we heard screams,” he said.

“People that were walking by stopped the fight … I didn’t see any of the centre’s security at all even after it.”

The man said police arrived about 30 minutes later.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said officers spoke to multiple teenagers who refused to make a statement.

A 16-year-old from South Melbourne and a 17-year-old from Narre Warren had minor abrasions and refused medical treatment.

The incident comes after the same shopper’s wife witnessed a frightening altercation at the centre last week.

“She was [at Westfield Fountain Gate] with my daughter when she saw a group of teens trying to pick a fight with a man that was walking towards the cinema with his partner,” he said.

“My wife was petrified as she was in front of the person being picked on and she was worried they would push him and she would be trampled on.”

The man said there needed to be more security and a bigger police presence.

“There needs to be harsher punishment for the teens when they are caught,” he said.

“Not just a slap on the wrist and they walk away and do it again and again.”

Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
