Man faces court over threatening to kill partner
A man allegedly grabbed his partner around the throat and threatened to kill her during a heated argument about buying ‘crack’.

A man who allegedly grabbed his partner’s throat and threatened to kill her during a heated argument about “crack” has had his bail application denied.
The 52-year-old man appeared at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on Monday after he was charged with multiple offences including making threats to kill, assault and committing an indictable offence while on bail.
The court heard the accused and victim had been in a relationship for 11 years and had a young daughter together.
In September 2021, the man and woman were allegedly involved in a dispute after the accused asked the victim to go and “buy crack”.
The accused told the woman to “go f*** yourself” and grabbed her by the throat with one hand.
He allegedly pushed his thumb and finger into her neck in which the victim struggled to breathe.
The accused held the woman’s throat off and on for two minutes before he said “I’m going to kill you if you don’t f*** off out of my face”.
He allegedly drank 12 bourbon and cokes before the incident and left the address before police arrived.
The man’s lawyer Tamsin Khor said he had a “potential acquired” brain injury and a history with drugs, alcohol and mental health.
Ms Khor also said the man has had a difficult time in custody.
“They have been locked down completely since Christmas Day, with no time outside and no personal visits,” she said.
Prosecution argued the accused was an “unacceptable risk”.
They said the woman was “in fear” of the accused and was scared for her safety as she believed he was dangerous.
“If he was released, the victim believes she would have to go into crisis accommodation,” prosecution said.
The magistrate refused bail with the man returning to court on March 28.
