A 15-year-old has allegedly hooned at up to 150km/h after he allegedly stole a food delivery driver’s car and led police on a wild chase through Melbourne’s southeast.

The teen was allegedly lurking in Tucker St in Cranbourne at 12.15am and noticed the driver had left their car running while making a delivery.

He allegedly jumped into the car, got behind the wheel and sped off, leaving the driver stranded.

Police began patrolling the area and brought in the air wing to track the stolen car as it made its way towards Lynbrook, reaching alleged speeds of up to 150km/h.

Officers deployed stop sticks which punctured two tyres, and the car was eventually dumped in Caversham St in Lynbrook.

The teen ran from the scene but was chased down by nearby Greater Dandenong highway patrol officers, and was arrested and taken into custody.

He was charged with a string of offences including car theft, unlicensed driving and driving at a dangerous speed.

The teen was bailed to appear at a children’s court at a later date.
