A teenager has been arrested after they allegedly hit a fence, rammed a police car and led officers on a massive search through Burwood.

A teenager has been arrested after they allegedly hooned down Burwood Highway before crashing into a fence and ramming a police car.

Police spotted a Ford Futura sedan speeding on the major road in Burwood about 1.40am on Monday, and tried to pull the male driver over in Pippin Ct, not far from the Burwood One Shopping Centre.

The driver crashed into a fence and then allegedly rammed the officers’ car as they attempted to evade them, and ran from the scene.

Police cordoned off the area and brought in the air wing and dog squad as they searched for the teen.

He was eventually found hiding in the front yard of a home in nearby Holland Rd and was arrested.

The 17-year-old was charged with reckless conduct endangering life and other offences, and remanded to face a children’s court at a later date.
