Stripper caught dealing GHB from parked car in Seaford warned she’s on her last chance

An exotic dancer nabbed with vials of GHB and drug gear in a parked car in Seaford told police she wasn’t dealing as she “made enough money as a stripper” and the $2000 in cash she had was from a big pokies win. But it was a different story in court.

A drug-dealing stripper caught with bottles of GHB and bundles of cash denied she was a trafficker, telling cops she made enough money from her exotic dancing.

Trisha Cox was nabbed in the driver’s seat of a car parked on a nature strip in Seaford at 3.45am on May 25 last year.

Frankston Magistrates’ Court yesterday heard a police patrol came across a car suspiciously parked on the nature strip and when officers searched the vehicle they found cash in the glovebox, syringes, glass pipes, several bottles of GHB ranging in size from 10ml to 50ml, and about 50 empty small bottles.

In Cox’s bag she had more money, a large glass pipe, GHB in vials, a mobile phone and small zip lock bags.

In total police found more than $2000 in cash and 110ml of GHB on her or in the car.

The 25-year-old pleaded guilty to trafficking GHB, using ice and having proceeds of crime charges.

The court heard she was on a community corrections order at the time for similar offending.

She admitted to officers that she had smoked ice the night before, but said the cash was from a big win at the pokies.

She denied dealing drugs, saying she “made enough money as a stripper”, but refused to give officers her phone PIN.

In court her defence lawyer said she had been working sporadically part-time as a dancer and stripper, and had only dealt drugs to fund her own habit.

He said last year she was in “an anti-social downward spiral” due to intense drug use, but was now clean.

He said she now had a job as a hairdresser, was determined to make a go of her life and was a low risk of relapsing or reoffending.

Magistrate Gerard Lethbridge told her she was very, very close to being jailed.

“It was not too long after you were sentenced for trafficking drugs and dealing with proceeds of crime, and here you are again dealing drugs and dealing with proceeds,” Mr Lethbridge said.

“This has to be your last chance.

“You need to step up, sort it out, deal with your issues …. if it happens again you will face a long period of imprisonment.”

Cox was placed on an 18-month community corrections order, must do 150 hours of unpaid work and have drug counselling. She was also convicted and fined $1500.
