Then on Tuesday, just before 2.30am, the crooks smashed their way into Somerville Primary School on Eramosa Rd East, Mornington Peninsula crime investigation unit detective acting Senior Sergeant Jason Hocking said.
He said they ransacked the main building and portables, also stealing cash from a charity tin.
About half an hour later police arrested the pair at the Portsmouth Rd school in Bittern.
Both have been charged with three counts of burglary.
A Cranbourne man, 27, was remanded to appear at Frankston Magistrates’ Court, with a Somerville man, 24, bailed to face the same court at a later date.
Sen-Sgt Hocking said so far police have been unable to recover the missing laptops.
