WHEN Masters Games champion Kate Beadel bought Cloud, she never dreamt he would become a superstar event horse.
But the stallion defied the odds and took her to victory in the overall combined training class title at the Victorian Masters Games in Werribee.

Beadel said she had planned to make Cloud a racehorse.
“He wasn’t fast enough (as a racehorse), so he forced me to make a comeback to eventing (equestrian), which I hadn’t done for 10 years,” Beadel said.
“I thought I would take him to the Masters Games for an outing, get him used to the competition arena and he was fantastic.
“He was well behaved, so he got a lot of carrots.”
After the Masters Games victory, Beadel believes her stallion has what it takes to compete on the international stage.
“All the things we are doing for the past 12 months and the next 12 months are stepping stones to our goal, which is to compete at an international level,” she said.
The Nar Nar Goon resident rides daily at the Cranbourne Training Complex at 4am before settling into motherhood duties, with Tye, 6, and Derby, 3.
“Derby is horse crazy and wants to ride her pony every day,” she said.
“I’m pretty sure she will be a rider one day, like her mum.”
