Looking to buy a cricket bat this summer?
There’s a new bat maker on the Peninsula keen to swing into action.
Dromana cricketer Adam Ciavarella launched his C&S brand (Civandsoncricket) about six weeks ago and the hand crafted English willow sticks look great.
“I’m 38 and I’ve been a cricketer my whole life and I’ve always been a bit of a bat geek,’’ Ciavarella says.
“I’ve always played around with repairs and things like that, just bits and pieces.
“It’s only small, we’re not looking to take over Kookaburra or anything like that at the moment. We’re just trying to service the Peninsula.’’
Operating out of his Rosebud carport, Ciavarella has pre-made bats ready for sale and he’ll also make custom bats.
“I do custom shapes as well if someone says, ‘I want a copy of this’, or ‘I want it to be this weight’, I’ll do a custom bat for you,’’ he said.
Ciavarella says the Civandson name is recognition of his one-year-old son Ryan, while the black and white logo might have something to do with being a Magpies supporter.
He says business so far has been good.
“A few guys have been buying new bats which is good…it (lockdown) is giving guys more time to knock in their new bat, that’s what I’m telling everyone – you’ve got time to get a new one,’’ he said.
Ciavarella played at Oakleigh Districts before captain-coaching Moorabbin West in the old CMCA and he also coached Nar Nar Goon. He’s played with Dromana for the past five years, and was part of the Hoppers’ 2018-19 MPCA Sub District premiership.
Adam is also a dab hand at bat repairs. Details: 0427 273 866.
