It was a special day for Pines Cricket Club and its most famous family on Saturday.

Declan Jackson, 18, made his First XI debut — meaning all five sons of club great Stephen Jackson and wife Kim have played in the Piners’ top grade.

The Jackson Five consists of Patrick, Liam, Connor, Lachlan and Declan.

“They’re all good kids, too,’’ Pines skipper Ricky Ramsdale said.

“You’d love them all.”

Declan had a memorable debut, grabbing two key wickets with his off-spinners as Pines defeated Seaford Tigers in Round 9 of MPCA Peninsula.

He dismissed Tigers skipper Dave James (23) and opener Luke Kranzbuhler (37) in quick succession as the Tigers slumped to 5-74 chasing Pines’ 169.

They were dismissed for 132.

Declan bowled eight straight overs, snaring 2-33.

But it wasn’t all plain sailing for the Jacksons.

Patrick Jackson did his groin while bowling his second over and faces a stint on the sidelines.

Ramsdale said it was a set back for the ladder leaders.

“I don’t think we’ll have Patty for a couple of weeks which is a big blow because he’s probably the best bowler in our comp,’’ Ramsdale said.

“He’s got a run rate of under two an over and a bowling average of 12.”

Pines, though, is set to regain paceman Jackson Mockett, who missed Saturday’s game due to Covid.

Seaford Tigers’ bowlers shared the wickets, with Luke Chevalier (2-23), Mark Carroll (2-35) and Liam O’Halloran (2-33) doing best.

Seaford Tigers champion Ash Mills played his first game for the season, making 25.
