It has a lot to play for over the next six weeks.
And Mt Eliza will have three new coaches as it strives to avoid relegation in MPCA Provincial.
Senior coach Trevor Lovitt resigned last weekend, forcing a reshuffle.
In his place, senior players Tom Baron, Nick Baron and Tim Strickland will share the coaching duties for the remainder of the season.
Mt Eliza’s First XI is on the bottom of the ladder, having been dismissed for 40 and 54 in its past two games.
Mt Eliza president Tristan Faithfull said Lovitt had his reasons for resigning and there was no animosity in his departure.
“He gave me a call on Sunday, we had a chat about things…and we both thought it was best he concentrate on what he needs to concentrate on really,” Faithfull said.
“A lot of people will probably read into it that we’ve had two bad performances and we’ve sacked the coach but it’s not the case. That’s definitely not what’s happened.”
Tom Baron said Mt Eliza would bounce back strongly in the coming weeks.
He said the Mounties would regain key players Rashmika Opatha, Jordan Fuhrmann and Ben Tracy.
“We’re not panicking, it’s not doom or gloom for us,” Baron said.
“Once we get going we’ll be away.
“We’re pretty excited, the boys are up and about, I spoke to a fair few of them during the week and it’s looking pretty good.
“We’ve got a good bulk of games at home to finish the season off.
“If we can get a (good) side on our home ground on a good day we can do a bit of damage.”
