Hastings cricketer Jayden Regan ends up with dislocated jaw after sledging opponent in MPCA game
There was plenty of niggle when Hastings and Dromana cricketers faced off on the weekend, but when the Hastings captain caught his opponent out on 99, he “got a bit excited” — and his exuberant send-off landed him in hospital.

An over-exuberant sledge has backfired on a suburban cricketer, and put him in hospital with a bizarre injury.
Hastings seconds captain Jayden Regan was so fired up after catching Dromana batsman Jeff Bluhm for 99 on Saturday that he suffered a dislocated jaw while giving him a loud and passionate send-off.
The pair had been at each other all day and when Bluhm fell, Regan unleashed.
“We got a bit excited and started to carry on as you do and then I thought, nah I’ll give it a bit more and then the jaw just fell out of place,” Regan, who believes he was mouthing the words “yeah” and “finally” when the jaw dislocated, said.
With his jaw locked open and the pain starting to intensify, Regan left the field and drove himself to Rosebud Hospital.
“I couldn’t move it up or down, it was just locked open,” he said.
“Once I got to the hospital I was screaming there. They took me straight in and the doctor had to put his thumbs in the back of my mouth and crack it back in.
“The pain then went straight away.”
With his head strapped, Regan returned to the ground to celebrate a gripping win with his Blues teammates — and catch up with his rival Bluhm.
“I caught up with Bluhmy afterwards and we shook hands and had a bit of a laugh about it,” he said.
“I went up to collect the scorebook and I realised he’d gone out on 99 so I went back down to see him.
