Sorrento captain Bobby Wilson plunders runs for fun.

And he was at it again on Saturday, peeling off 129 to guide the Sharks to victory over Mornington in MPCA Provincial Round 9.

It was his second successive match-winning ton — he cracked 105 not out against Peninsula Old Boys before Christmas — and it was his seventh hundred in four-and-a-half seasons for Sorrento.

Chasing Mornington’s 160, Sorrento was 2-48 when Wilson arrived at the crease.

At 3-88, he was joined by Liam O’Connor and the pair put on 137 before Wilson was out stumped, having played a superb captain’s innings.

O’Connor made a fine 40.

With 415 runs already this season, Wilson is hungry for more when he leads the MPCA at Country Week before setting his sights on another finals campaign with Sorrento.

Langwarrin, second, put a 34-point gap between itself and fourth-placed Peninsula Old Boys after dismissing the Pirates for 163, in reply to 186.

Champion Mal Coutts was the match-winner, taking 4-13 off 15 overs to go with his vital 27no last week. Langy paceman Trav Campbell removed POB opener Dylan O’Malley for a blob before Will Crowder (40) and John Forrest (43) mounted a fightback for the Pirates.

Mt Eliza got back on the winner’s list after overcoming some batting wobbles to chase down Baxter’s paltry 98, making 152.

The Mounties slumped to 7-61 before Scott Tansley (21), Tom Baron (41) and man-of-the-match Nick Baron (15no) got the job done. Baxter leggie Yohan Maddege bowled superbly to take 5-53 off 22 overs.

Baden Powell is knocking on the door of the top four after a gripping 13-run win over Flinders.

The Braves, defending 249, had to work hard to dismiss Flinders for 236 in 83.4 overs, with Nathan Rice (3-78), Craig Entwistle (3-55 off 24) and Rhys Elmi (2-32 off 19) combining well.

Shane Beggs top scored for Flinders with 65, while Kane Hawkins (44), Sam Gove (27) and Jack Field (30) also chipped in.

Mt Martha’s chances of avoiding relegation have taken a major boost after upsetting Delacombe Park.

Mt Martha is still on the bottom but has won two of its past three games.

Crib Point took another step towards a finals berth with a crucial win over Rosebud. Magpies skipper Matt Blake was unable to field due to a workplace injury and Crib Point coach and former champ Brad Glenn sub-fielded, standing at short-leg for much of the afternoon.

*Langwarrin will play on the Junction Oval this Sunday after winning through to the grand final of Cricket Victoria’s Regional Big Bash Twenty20 grand final.

Langwarrin defeated Lavington Panthers, who included former New Zealand paceman Darryl Tuffey, in Bendigo on Sunday to clinch a shot at the title.

After restricting Lavington to 9-142 off 20, Langy surged to victory on the last ball of the 16th over, with Tom Hussey (62no off 44 balls) and Travis Canavan (48no off 28) in cracking form. Tuffey took 0-36 off four overs.

Langwarrin’s bowling display was led by Matt Prosser (3-26) and Leigh Paterson (2-17).

Langwarrin will face Bendigo District Cricket Association club Strathdale-Maristians in the final — not at the “G’’ but at the “J” — on Australia Day.
