What a catch by Frankston Peninsula.
The Heat have appointed former Cricket Victoria Premier Cricket operations manager Mike Ronchi as their general manager.
After running the competition for the past eight seasons, Ronchi will channel all his energies into helping Frankston Peninsula get to “the next level’’.
Frankston Peninsula president Cameron Wallace said Ronchi’s experience would be vital as the Heat rebuilds.
“We are thrilled Mike has chosen to join us in the role as general manager,’’ he said.
“With his strong management background, all-round experience and knowledge across the cricket landscape, especially Premier Cricket, we very much look forward to Mike complementing our committee, supporting our volunteers and players to drive and progress our strategy to become a leading club in the Premier competition.”
Ronchi says he’s always regarded Frankston Peninsula as “a sleeping giant’’ of Victorian cricket.
“The facilities there now are brilliant,’’ he said.
“I’m just looking forward to throwing myself into a Premier club.
“It’s great to see a lot of the past players getting involved as well, that’s something we are working at — getting back those connections with past players.
“I think we have an opportunity to take the club to the next level.
“That’s going to be part of my role, to manage the club in a way so we can get ourselves up and about for the season.’’
As well as his role at CV, Ronchi was a member of the Cricket Australia National Premier Cricket Working Group.
