They are both only 18.

But Luke Mott and Om Satija are performing like seasoned stars for Bentleigh.

On Saturday, Mott grabbed 4-29 with his off spinners and leggie Satija took 3-24 to set up the Demons’ win over Mordialloc.

Young couldn’t keep the youngsters out of the game; they were involved in eight of the last nine Mordialloc wickets to fall as the Bloodhounds crashed from 1-72 to 127 all out.

Incredibly, Satija also took four catches at long-on, giving him five catches for the innings (he also snaffled a caught and bowled).

In reply, Bentleigh got the runs in 32 overs, making 5-133, with skipper Jarrad Dowling (51) and Rob Ciccarella (31) leading the way.

It was the Demons’ second straight bonus-point victory, lifting them to third spot but equal second with Mordialloc on 25 points.

Mott is a Bentleigh product who has progressed through the ranks from juniors.

He is the son of former Bentleigh premiership player Rob Mott.

Satija started the season in a blaze of glory when he captured 6-7 off 5.1 overs against Carnegie on debut and has collected 18 wickets, at 11.50 apiece.

Mott and Satija are among a crop of exciting new talent driving Bentleigh this season.

The Demons have six players under the age of 20 in their First XI.

Beside them are the experienced Dowling, Ciccarella, Brendan Drew and Greg Buckley.

Dowling said the mixture of youth and experience had created a great culture.

“We’ve got a good vibe in our change rooms,” he said.

“The kids love being part of the team and we’ve got a strong emphasis on being the best teammate you can be and they’re really subscribing to that.

“There’s a great little culture going.

“So all the parts are there, it’s just experience now, it’s just learning from the mistakes we make.”

Dowling is determined to leave no stone unturned in search of finals success.

He sent a message to his players on Monday to urge them to maintain their training standards and continue to gel as a team.

Teenager Luke Nixon Smith grabbed his best ever bowling figures, 5-16, to set up Hampton’s rousing five-wicket win over Beaumaris at Boss James Reserve.

Nixon Smith ripped through the Sharks’ top order — dismissing former Prahran star Sam Coates, Lachlan Fryer and Thomas Mutton in quick succession — as the visitors were shot out for 82.

Hampton, in reply, lost opener Jackson Cooper before a run was scored but recovered to reach victory in the 20th over, making 5-83. Charlie Ross (25no) and Jarrod Hewitt (26) showed the way.

Murrumbeena climbed to fourth spot after a 44-run win over Carnegie.

Xavier Ross cracked 61 off 73 balls to set up the Beena’s 8-172 before Nuwan Karunarathne produced some magic, taking 5-41, to help flatten the Neggie for 128. Tom Kelly chipped in with 2-26. Suraj Nageswara Rao top scored for Carnegie with 48.

In Division 1, runs flowed at Mentone where the home side beat Dingley after a dynamic run chase.

Calvin Barlow scored his maiden Dingley century, 105 not out, to propel the Dingoes to 4-233 off their 40 overs.

He struck 5 sixes and 7 fours and faced only 108 balls.

Dingley gun Ryan McLean continue his golden summer with 77 off 77 balls, a week after blasting 147.

But Mentone answered the challenge, smacking 6-234 to achieve victory with seven balls remaining.

Skipper Dane Heverin led the charge with 78 not out off 92 balls. He has 393 runs this season, at 65.50.

Simon Cormie (41 off 49) and Gavin Brown (55 off 64) provided sterling support as the Tigers roared to victory, consolidating top spot.

McKinnon’s batting fired as it chased down Parkdale’s 9-179.

Dale Elmi cracked 80 off 79 balls for Parkdale but McKinnon replied with 3-180 off 37.5 overs as skipper Jack O’Shea (67no off 81 balls, with 8 fours), Luke Heath (25), Cale Hirschman (23) and Wade King (38no) batted beautifully.
