Road and rail works will ramp up across the southeast this spring, with traffic delays expected as six vital intersections are upgraded.
The delays are expected to hit Frankston, Dandenong, Narre Warren and Bentleigh.
For three weeks from August 26, a section of Hallam North Rd will be closed at the intersection of Heatherton Rd, with delays expected.
Frankston-Dandenong, Lathams and Hall roads will reopen in late October, while the outbound turning lane on the South Gippsland Highway between Carter Way and Pound Rd West in Dandenong South will be closed the same month for two weeks.
The removal of two level crossings will continue at Glen Huntly with the Frankston train line impacted as express trains are replaced with trains stopping at all stations from mid December until the middle of next year.
A new crossing will be installed at the intersection of Tucker Rd and South Rd in Bentleigh with the intersection closed over two weekends in September.
Memorial Drive will be closed until the end of September and work will begin on the Crawley Rd and Brundrett Rd intersection in spring.
Work will be completed on the Western Port Highway and the Golf Links Road roundabout and construction will continue on the South Rd and Narre Warren North upgrades.
Transport Minister Jacinta Allen said the upgrades are part of the government's Big Build investment to deliver “better roads and rail infrastructure” in the southeast.
“We are delivering the biggest investment in transport infrastructure in the state’s history. Our plans include new roads, new stations, road widenings, new bridges and the removal of 85 level crossings across the state,” she said.
