RYE
A 49-year-old Rye man has been arrested after police allegedly found two firearms, two taser devices, ammunition and a quantity of meth at his Browns Rd home on August 7. Southern Metro Divisional Response Unit members arrested the man at his home. He was charged with two counts of prohibited person possess firearm, trafficking methylamphetamine, possession of ammunition and five counts of possess a prohibited weapon without authorisation.
PORTSEA
An alleged drunk driver who crashed into a pole in Portsea on August 13 is expected to be charged with driving offences. Rosebud police were called to Defence Rd after a man crashed his blue Holden Commodore sedan into a pole about 4.20pm. The driver returned a positive preliminary breath test and was taken back to a police station where he returned a breath test reading of 0.250. The 48-year-old man is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving offences.
MOUNT MARTHA/CHELSEA/FRANKSTON
A man has died following a single vehicle crash in Mount Martha on August 11. Investigators believe the car was travelling north along The Esplanade when it left the roadway and struck a power pole about 3.15pm. The driver, a 60-year-old Chelsea man, was treated at the scene but later died. An eight-year-old Frankston girl, who was a passenger in the car, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

FRANKSTON
A donation tin has been stolen from Frankston Library. It’s alleged a large amount of cash was in the tin when it was stolen on May 31. Police are seeking to speak with a man of caucasian appearance and a slim build.
LANGWARRIN
A 20-year-old Frankston man has been remanded in custody after police allegedly caught him speeding and running red lights in Frankston and Langwarrin earlier this month. Police observed him via helicopter allegedly doing speeds of up to 155km/h and running red lights. His vehicle has been impounded.

CRANBOURNE
A man has been charged with various drug and weapon charges including two counts of possess a general category of a handgun that is not registered, possess methyl amphetamine, and other theft and traffic offences after he was arrested in Cranbourne on August 9. It is alleged the 44-year-old Heidelberg Heights man was driving his silver Ford ute in Monahans Rd when police intercepted him about 3am.
PAKENHAM
A 27-year-old man has been arrested four months after an alleged shooting in Pakenham. Police allege two men on bikes, one armed with a firearm, were seen arguing with two other males and a female on Livingston Boulevard after 6pm on March 25. It is alleged the offender fired several shots when he was chased by the victims. The man was arrested earlier this month after police raided a Pakenham property.
HALLAM
A 29-year-old Hallam man had his VW Passat wagon impounded after he was caught doing 158km/h in a 100km/h zone on Mount Buller Rd earlier this month. He was one of more than 50 people caught speeding during an operation by Mansfield Highway Patrol police targeting road safety in the Mansfield area. Operation Early bird was conducted with the assistance of air wing, targeting motorists travelling to Mount Stirling and Mount Buller ski fields. Of the 60 detections, 56 were caught speeding and 15 of those were travelling at speeds that will now involve a loss of licence.

Police are hoping to reunite several items to its rightful owner after a stolen car was located in Kingston earlier this month. The bulk of the stolen items include jewellery. Police are hoping to return the property to the owners and to “ascertain how and when it was stolen”.
BRIGHTON
Water police were called to Green Point in Brighton after reports a kite surfer was in trouble on August 8. Police arrived but the surfer had already left. Police found the surfers’ kite but no board. It’s understood the owner managed to return to shore on his board and left immediately without retrieving the kite. The person who lost the kite should contact water police on 9399 7500.
GREATER DANDENONG
SPRINGVALE
A 34-year-old man has allegedly been sprung speeding in Springvale and Mulgrave on August 9. Greater Dandenong Highway Patrol officers spotted the motorcycle travelling about 130km/h on Police Rd about 3am. The bike was allegedly displaying fake registration plates. Police patrolled the area for the bike and it was clocked travelling at 125km/h in a 50km/h zone along Huxley Ave, Mulgrave. Officers tried to intercept the bike and the rider stalled the motorcycle while attempting to negotiate a corner. The rider was arrested and interviewed for a number of traffic offences including unlicensed riding as well as possess drug of dependence. He lost his motorcycle for 30 days at a cost of $870 and is expected to be charged on summons.

DANDENONG/NARRE WARREN
A pair who allegedly ramraided a Dandenong business on May 6 has been arrested. Greater Dandenong detectives charged the two Narre Warren men following a commercial burglary on Lonsdale St. It’s alleged the men, aged 25 and 47, used a vehicle to gain access to the premises about 3.30am before stealing a safe containing cash and fleeing the scene. No one was injured during the incident. Police raided a Narre Warren address on July 22 in relation to the alleged incident, allegedly finding various items including weapons and substances believed to be drugs. The men have been charged with several offences including burglary, theft, criminal damage, possess drugs, possess ammunition and driving offences. Both will face court at a later date.
