A PROMISING Peninsula player will have to use his pushbike to get to training after he was pinged for driving while way over the legal limit.
Danny Stephenson pleaded guilty to drink-driving at Frankston Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
The court heard the 21-year-old Sorrento Sharks footballer was seen motoring along Nepean Highway, Mornington about 1.30am on January 28.

He was travelling around 30km/h over the limit, and didn’t have his lights on.
Officers pulled him up to find out he was a P-plater driving his girlfriend’s car.
He then blew .104, when he should have been zero.
The car was impounded, and his licence was suspended on the spot.
He told police he had been drinking Red Bull and vodkas at a party in Mornington, and admitted he had “had one too many”.
Stephenson’s defence lawyer, and Sorrento club president Bernie Balmer, said his actions were “very disappointing”.
“He is one of our valued players, he came second in our best and fairest,” Mr Balmer said.
“It was his girlfriend’s car (and) she was not very happy.
“The club knows of (the offending), he is remorseful.”
He said Stephenson had been using a pushbike to get around since the January 28 event.
Magistrate Brian Clifford accepted he was remorseful and the poor decision-making was “a one-off incident”.
Stephenson was convicted, fined $600 and had his driving licence disqualified for 10 months, backdated to January 28.
