A sneaky skin-shedding snake found playing in a Cranbourne toy box has been safely caught and released.
Barry Goldsmith from Snake Catcher Victoria said he was called out to a house on Smiths Lane, Cranbourne South, on Thursday after a woman spotted the tiger snake slithering into a box of toys in her shed.

“The woman rang me as she’s used to having snakes but this one was way too close to home,” Mr Goldsmith said.
“She wasn’t bitten by the snake and she did the right thing by calling us right away.”
He said he thought the snake had been living there for a while as its skin had shed.
“They usually shed two to three times a year and it appears the snake was pretty cosy there as it’s a pretty comfortable spot for it.”
He said he had been called out an average of three times a week to Cranbourne.
“There’s a lot of works going on there at the moment with farmlands being ripped up to make way for new developments, so this is naturally causing them to drift out.”
Mr Goldsmith urged the public not to panic if they spotted a snake.
“Be nice to snakes — don’t step on them, hurt or kill them. It’s ideal not to panic and it’s always best to call a snake catcher.”
