Seaford man in custody after allegedly pointing laser at police helicopter

A man who allegedly pointed a laser at a flying police helicopter was tracked down and slapped with multiple charges.

A man who allegedly pointed a laser at a police helicopter was tracked down and arrested in Melbourne’s southeast.

It is alleged the laser was pointed several times at the Air wing while it was flying above Carrum Downs about 11pm on August 31.

Officers in the Air wing directed police on the ground to an address at Postregna Way in Skye before they found a laser and arrested a 36-year-old man at the property.

The Seaford man was charged with interfering with a crew member in an aircraft, reckless conduct endangering life, assaulting police, possessing a prohibited weapon and committing an indictable offence while on bail.

He is in custody and will appear at the Frankston Magistrates’ Court today.
