The owner of a nappy-wearing dog found wandering the streets in urine-soaked pull-ups has been ordered to do a pet ownership course.
The pomeranian pooch, wearing a nappy made for toddlers, had been prowling the pavements for six days after escaping from his Springvale home.

He was then caught by council rangers, who found him wearing a human nappy and in a distressed and dirty state.
Miu Chui Cheung pleaded guilty to cruelty charges at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
An RSPCA prosecutor told the court the dog had gone missing from its home on February 21 this year.
He was twice reported as ‘at large’ before being caught by council rangers and impounded on February 27.
The dog was discovered wearing a “pungent” urine-soaked human nappy, had lacerations, and was sore and infected around the back area.
The next day council inspectors visited Cheung’s home where they found two excessively underweight kittens which were in a poor condition and had cat flu.
The nappy-wearing dog had to have vet care for 43 days and the kittens had to be euthanised.
Representing herself in court, Cheung said the cats were strays that had come into her house the day before the rangers came.
She said the six-year-old pomeranian had always had problems with urinating inside her house, so she decided to put nappies on him.
She said before the dog, which she had had since he was a puppy, had escaped, she changed the nappies regularly to make sure he was clean.
He is now back at her home, but she said she doesn’t put nappies on him anymore.
Magistrate Pauline Spencer said she needed to be taught how to properly toilet train animals.
Cheung was placed on a 12-month good behaviour bond, ordered to never put nappies on dogs again, and told she must do an online pet ownership course.
She was also ordered to contribute $500 to the RSPCA, and pay court costs of $412.
