A road and safety equipment manufacturer and supplier has been charged following the death of a delivery truck driver in Nar Nar Goon.
A 34-year-old died when a 925kg metal barrier fell onto him from his semi-trailer while the barriers were being unloaded using a forklift about 7pm on November 27, 2021.
WordSafe charged Saferoad Pty Ltd, trading as Road Safety Rentals, to two counts of failing to ensure, so far as was reasonably practicable, that a workplace under its management and control was safe and without risks to health.
And four charges of failing to ensure people and employees were not exposed to health and safety risks, including the risk of being crushed by falling objects and powered mobile plant colliding with pedestrians.
The matter is listed to be heard at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on February 22.
