Red Rooster in Springvale has been shut down by the company who say the franchisee didn’t meet company standards.
“We make no apology for enforcing our brand standards, as that is what our customers expect, and deserve,” CEO Nick Keenan said.

He said the company worked with franchise partners to build successful businesses and offered support in times of stress.
“In the unfortunate event that a franchise partner does not participate in rectifying issues raised, we will look at ways to exit them from our network,” Mr Keenan said.
The Springvale outlet has had what the company termed “a variety of issues” over the past 12 months.
Leader understands the food was not considered by management to be top quality.
Management also had concerns about how the shop was run and its customer service.
“In this instance we have specifically worked with the franchise partner for 12 months to remedy a number of issues in this restaurant. Although there were operational improvements, they were not continuous, and the restaurant did not reach the standards that we pride ourselves on. As a result, we have taken the step to end the ownership of this restaurant by the former franchisee.”
Mr Keenan said all existing staff had been offered jobs with Red Rooster and “their continual service will be honoured”.
And he promised the closure is only temporary and hoped to reopen the chicken restaurant in 7 to 10 days after a revamp. It will open as a company store until a new franchisee is found.
In the meantime, Red Rooster fans can go to the outlet in Springvale South.
Red Rooster has 190 individual business owners operating 350 restaurants with 9500 employees.
