Recidivist rogue rider previously jailed is sentenced to more prison time for more bike crimes

He was jailed in 2014 after a dramatic wild chase captured on camera by a Leader photographer — but this serial motorbike hoon still hasn’t learnt his lesson.

A 48-year-old hoon who has spent half of his adult life in and out of jail is again behind bars after he admitted riding a stolen motorbike with fake plates while high on ice and without a licence.

Mitchell Patrick Greene was nabbed on the nicked ride after police spotted him on the Nepean Highway in Mornington about 1.25pm on March 11 last year.

On closer inspection officers found that the registration plate was a very good cloned copy belonging to a different bike.

When they checked the vehicle identification number it turned out the bike had been stolen in a Bayswater North burglary a month before.

A test of Greene’s oral fluid came back positive for ice.

The Mornington man should not have been riding as he had been banned by a court in 2014 for seven years.

He was also jailed for 25 months for the alcohol-fuelled motorbike chase that ended with him smashing into a taxi in Young St, Frankston in August 2013.

That wild ride was captured by Leader photographer Jason Sammon’s award-winning images of Greene as he rolled over the top of the cab.

Greene, who also goes by the name of Mitchell Green, pleaded guilty to charges of drug driving, disqualified driving, handling stolen goods and having fraudulent plates at Frankston Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

The court heard he told police that he genuinely didn’t know the bike was stolen as he had been fooled by the “very good” fake number plates.

In court his defence lawyer said as Greene had spent much of his adult life in and out of prison, he now “realises he is missing out on a lot” with his children and was “going to make lifestyle changes upon release from jail”.

Magistrate Gerard Lethbridge said Greene should have known what his offending would lead to.

“He’s got very, very extreme prior convictions,” Mr Lethbridge said.

“He’s certainly been around the block before.”

Greene was jailed for three months, disqualified from driving for six months, convicted and fined $750.
