Prolific criminal with a penchant for violence faces more time behind bars for thefts and assaults
A borrowed cushion sparked an attack on a fellow prison inmate, and he left his ID with a stolen motorbike when he fled from police. Despite being told he faces more time behind bars, this career crim kept smiling in his latest court appearance.

A career criminal with dozens of pages of priors has smiled and laughed as he pleaded guilty to another swag of charges.
Happy crook Dale Peter Forster appeared by videolink at Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court last week in a jovial mood as he admitted an array of violence, theft and drug offending.
Some of the 51-year-old’s crimes were bizarre — he punched a fellow inmate because the man had taken his cushion, and on another occasion he tried to inflate a flat tyre on a stolen motorbike with a pushbike pump.

The court heard on October 5 last year Forster was standing near a motorcycle in the basement of a block of apartments in High St, Windsor when a witness walked by.
He thought it was odd that a man was attempting to inflate a motorbike tyre with a pushbike pump, and he called police.
They arrived but Forster managed to flee, pushing past officers and trying to punch one in the face, before he fell down some stairs.
That didn’t deter him from escaping, and neither did OC spray, and he ran off.
But he had left behind his bum bag containing his ID and drug paraphernalia, and his distinctive helmet.
Later that evening members of the public reported seeing a strange man, which turned out to Forster, on the roof of a nearby vacant building, and he was eventually arrested.
A rider wearing the same distinctive helmet as that owned by Forster had also been involved in a police pursuit earlier that day.

The day after, while he was in custody for a court hearing on those charges, he lashed out and punched another crim in the face because the man had taken his cushion.
Forster also pleaded guilty to breaching court orders, failing a drug-drive test, and driving unregistered motorbikes and cars while unlicensed or disqualified.
His defence lawyer said he had an extensive history of polysubstance abuse, and he had been “involved in a lot of fights, a lot of motorcycle incidents”.
Magistrate Jade Bott said Forster faced a significant period in jail but she needed a psychiatric report before she could sentence him.
The last time he was being assessed for one he fell asleep halfway through and the report could not be completed.
He was remanded and will be sentenced on April 29.
