A man has miraculously survived after a giant tree was ripped from its roots and crashed onto his caravan as a wild wind ravages the city.
Emergency services were called to Shawlands Caravan Park in Dandenong South at 3.10pm on Tuesday after multiple calls to triple-0 reported a large tree had fallen onto a caravan.
The Herald Sun has been told the man was lying in bed when the tree fell on his caravan.
He was trapped inside the caravan and later taken to hospital. He is now reported to be in a stable condition.
A Fire Rescue Victoria spokesperson said CFA and FRV crews and a “specialist rescue team” worked together to remove the tree.
“The tree was removed by crane, which allowed paramedics to access the patient,” they said.
“The patient was transported to hospital.”
