Pakenham sicko Nathan Drennan pleads guilty to possess, solicit and transmit child abuse material

A Dandenong warehouse worker shared child abuse material involving adults and dogs which a judge labelled “too horrible”.

What to do if you think a child is being abused

A Dandenong warehouse worker caught with vile child abuse material depicting children being violated by sick adults and dogs has been jailed.

Nathan Drennan, 25, was sentenced in the County Court on Friday to an immediate nine-month jail term after pleading guilty to solicit, possess and transmit child abuse material.

Joint-Anti Child Exploitation Team members swatted Drennan at his Pakenham home on October 13 last year.

Investigators established Drennan had been “dealing in child abuse material” via internet app ‘Discord’.

Police analysed multiple devices and a Gmail account which contained vile child abuse photos and videos.

Some of the material depicted adult men performing sickening acts on pre-pubescent children.

Drennan was also caught with disgusting Japanese style animation which depicted children performing and suffering horrible sexual acts.

Police also discovered Drennan — under the username ‘Koku’ — communicated with a fellow sicko via messaging app Telegram.

Drennan also swapped child abuse material.

“What age range do you like,” Drennan said.

“All … I have no preference,” another person replied.

”You got more with younger girls?,” Drennan said.

“I have everything bro,” the person replied.

“Nice … girls under 14 are best for me,” Drennan said.

“And then is cp with violation,” the person said.

“That is like the most difficult to have … I mean, the most difficult CP to achieve is the rape.”

“Most of my cp that I haven’t sent is zoophilia I used to have rape but I lost a lot …,” Drennan replied.

Drennan also had lewd conversations with Discord users including an unknown person who purported to be a 16-year-old girl.

Drennan told the user he had a “girlfriend” younger than her.

He also outlined vile acts he performed on his so-called girlfriend.

Drennan also told another user how his proffered age range was between 8 and 12 and his “favourites” were young teens and children.

Drennan admitted to police he possessed child abuse material “in the past” which he shared “back and forth with people online”.

He claimed he first “encountered” child abuse material on the “deep web” in 2018.

Drennan, who denied “having an interest in material involving rape or toddlers”, claimed he accessed child abuse material in cycles.

“(The) guilt will start to kick in … I don’t want to do this,” Drennan said.

Drennan also said the last time he accessed child abuse material made him feel “physically sick”.

The court heard Drennan, of Pakenham, barely completed Year 12 in Queensland before moving to Melbourne.

Drennan, who has few friends, had trouble maintaining regular employment but worked at a Dandenong warehouse up until Friday’s sentencing.

A psychologist noted Drennan developed dysfunctional sexual cognitions about underage females that formed the basis for a “deviant arousal pattern”.

Judge Anne Hassan said Drennan’s material was “too horrible to even contemplate”.

“The material that you viewed and traded and sought to trade involved nothing short of instances of grotesque child sexual exploitation,” Judge Hassan said.

“What you were looking at did not involve actors or pretend … what you viewed was the real-life abuse of children, abuse involving children being sexually penetrated by adults and dogs.

“Children being restrained, blindfolded and unconscious, the material is of a high level of depravity … the situation of the children in some of the material is too horrible even to contemplate.”

Drennan was sentenced to a two-year and six-month jail term but will be released on a two-year good behaviour bond after serving nine months.

Drennan was made a registered sex offender for life.
