A NSW-based navy sailor will contest serious sex offence charges including an allegation he raped a woman while at the Mornington Peninsula.

Daniel Hagglund, 28, fronted Melbourne Magistrates’ Court via WebEx on Thursday charged with multiple counts of rape and indecent assault.

It’s alleged Hagglund raped and indecently a female in Mornington 2015.

Hagglund also allegedly raped and indecently assaulted a female at Mornington again in 2015.

It’s alleged Hagglund intentionally sexually penetrated a female’s vagina with his fingers without her consent.

Hagglund also allegedly grabbed a female’s groin and attempted to “force his hands into her pants” without her consent.

Frankston detectives charged Hagglund earlier this year.

A warrant for Hagglund’s arrest was issued at the Frankston Magistrates’ Court on June 7 this year.

The warrant was issued after police informed the court Hagglund was a NSW-based navy seaman who they intended to extradite.

The court heard an alleged incident occurred in a car.

Hagglund, who had lived at Queenscliff in Sydney’s Northern Beaches, had his bail extended with conditions he reside at an address in Brookvale.

Hagglund will face a two-day contested committal hearing commencing on February 23 next year.
