A man has been killed after a head-on collision in Pakenham.
Paramedics were called to the multi-vehicle accident on Pakenham Rd, near Orchard Valley, where the driver of the Toyota van died at the scene about 6.30am.
Victoria Police media adviser Nikki Ladgrove said the man has yet to be formally identified.
Ms Ladgrove said the driver of a Mitsubishi ute, a 45-year-old Noble Park man, was rushed to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
She said Cardinia highway patrol officers were investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said the Noble Park man was taken to the Dandenong Hospital in a stable condition.
SES liaison unit spokesman Shayne Honey said the Pakenham Road Rescue unit attended and volunteers Pakenham SES and Nar Nar Goon CFA worked to free the occupants with hydraulic tools.
This is the second fatal accident in Pakenham within a week after a mother and her unborn baby were killed in a horror crash on Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Rd in Pakenham South about 8am on February 4.
