A one-legged, girl-raping sex creep shot in a mysterious gun attack has faced court again over a Melbourne-wide crime spree.
Shawn Edward Walker was jailed in 2009 for six-and-a-half years after he and a mate plied two 14-year-old girls with drugs and alcohol and raped them.
In 2008 Walker and his perverted pal sexually assaulted the pair of teens and encouraged them to perform indecent acts on each other while being filmed.
Walker then waved at the phone camera as he had sex with one of the girls.
The limping druggie was also the subject of a strange shooting in 2012 when he was found dumped outside a hospital suffering rifle wounds.
His leg had to be amputated and since then Walker has struggled to walk, even with the aid of a prosthetic limb.
The career criminal now faces another lengthy jail term after he admitted stealing multiple cars, leading police on dangerous chases, thefts, burglaries and petrol drive-offs.
He was also found with a homemade gun and ammunition in one of the stolen cars he crashed.
The 36-year-old of no-fixed address pleaded guilty to 27 charges at the online Frankston Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
They included car thefts, charges of reckless conduct, dangerous driving, deceptions, possessing firearms, ammunition and drugs, thefts and dealing with the proceeds of crime.
Between April 2019 and February this year Walker stole three cars — one from a mate in Cranbourne and two from Facebook Marketplace after he conned the owners by providing fake bank screenshots.
He committed petrol drive-offs in Rosebud, Skye, Frankston and Langwarrin, burgled a Wantirna garden store and was found with GHB and stolen bank cards in Rosebud.
He led police on pursuits in Frankston and Skye, narrowly missing pedestrians and driving the wrong way up Peninsula Link.
He was driving a stolen Audi coupe when he crashed on a nature strip, legging it on foot but leaving behind an imitation firearm and six ammunition rounds in the car.
Due to his limp he was slow off the mark, and police didn’t take long to catch the rogue runner.
His defence lawyer said her client, who has already done eight months on remand, was now on methadone and “hasn’t given up” on leading a crime-free life.
She said there were issues over whether the gun was able to be fired and a corrections order would be beneficial to help with his drug use and his PTSD due to the shooting.
Magistrate Gerard Lethbridge said forensic work on the gun would be a factor in him determining the length of a jail sentence.
“If it didn’t work, why did he have the bullets there?” Mr Lethbridge said.
“He himself is living proof of what happens when criminals use firearms.
“I would say his prospects of rehabilitation are fairly guarded.”
Walker was remanded in custody for further plea and sentencing on November 9.
