An Officer dad allegedly caught with $58,000 inside his Mercedes after a drug-induced episode at a Bunnings has been slapped with a fresh trafficking charge.
Dylan Whitfield, 29, fronted the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Thursday charged with trafficking a commercial quantity of meth.
It’s alleged Whitfield, who was charged on March 9, trafficked the deadly drug between July 30 and October 28, 2020.
The accused meth dealer lobbed on the police radar after Bunnings Springvale shoppers allegedly witnessed a drugged-up Whitfield walking through the store about 2pm on December 11, 2020.
Whitfield, who allegedly identified himself and was arrested before police discovered he was carrying three mobile phones, keys to a Mercedes and $1250 in cash, the court was told during a failed bail application heard last year.
The court heard police returned to the carpark to locate the matching luxury vehicle, allegedly uncovering $58,625 in bundled notes from inside the Merc and a bag of meth.
Whitfield’s Bunnings arrest came after police raided the father of one’s South Yarra apartment on April 29, 2020.
Police allegedly seized a commercial quantity of GHB mirror drug 1,4-butanediol, MDMA, meth, $6200, four mobile phones, digital scales, deal bags, fake IDs and power tools.
The court heard Whitfield allegedly refused to attend while the search warrant was executed.
Whitfield’s bail application failed which meant he appeared at Wednesday’s brief hearing via videolink on remand at Barwon prison.
Whitfield, who was charged with multiple drug trafficking offences, will face court at a later date.
