A NARRE Warren North biker out on bail was caught with a stolen ride that had been nicked from a Seaford store.

Nathan John Lowson was free on appeal bail after being sentenced to six months jail for firearms and drug crimes.

But it wasn’t long before he was offending again.

MAN SENTENCED FOR DRINK-DRIVING ACCIDENT THAT PARALYSED HIM

Thirty-five-year-old Lowson appeared via videolink at Frankston Magistrates’ Court this on Tuesday on drugs, weapons and proceeds of crime charges.

The court heard a Seaford Kawasaki motorbike shop was burgled in March this year, with four rides stolen.

On April 19 police went to a Langwarrin address on an unrelated matter and found Lowson in full leather biking gear and holding a motorbike key.

Near him was one of the stolen bikes, valued at $12,000, which had false plates, an altered vehicle number and an ignition system that had been tampered with.

Lowson told police he bought the bike — even though he didn’t have a motorbike licence — a few weeks before from an unnamed man.

On June 27 police searched his Narre Warren North unit and found a slingshot, ball bearings and 50g of liquid 1,4-butanediol (a recreational drug known as ‘bute’).

He was not there during the raid, but was arrested three weeks later and remanded.

His lawyer told the court the drugs were only worth around $300 and the slingshot did not have the elastic, thereby rendering it unable to be fired.

Magistrate Timothy Gattuso said it was concerning Lowson was in possession of a weapon and drugs while on appeal bail after being sentenced for very serious firearms offences.

Lowson was jailed for 70 days, minus 42 days he had already served on remand.
