A heartbroken mother is pleading for answers over the suspicious death of her daughter in Melbourne’s southeast.

Jessica Geddes was 27 years old when she was found dead inside a Haverstock Hill Close property in Endeavour Hills about 7pm on November 6, 2020.

Jessica’s mum Saasha Brimble believes her daughter was murdered by someone close to her after she left her home state of Queensland and moved to Victoria.

“The moment she went down there, it became her nightmare, her absolute hell,” Ms Brimble told Leader.

“We were a very close family, so what happened one night when she got up and went to Victoria has broken me.”

At the time, Ms Brimble and other family members questioned Jessica as to why she was moving and leaving her daughter Arianna, now eight years old, behind.

“We were absolutely shattered that she did that, it was out of character behaviour for her,” Ms Brimble said.

“She left her life completely, she left a fully furnished home, she left her baby.

“She left everything to go and be broken down there.”

Ms Brimble said her daughter grew up on a farm in the country and was a happy child.

She had a fond love for horse riding, debating and music.

Jessica fell in love with her high school sweetheart and had a baby with him at the age of 20.

Their relationship broke down so Jessica raised Arianna on her own.

Ms Brimble said Jessica’s life turned for the worst the day she moved to Victoria.

She said her daughter was brutally tortured, bashed and beaten.

Ms Brimble said Jessica was hit in the head with a sledgehammer which caused her to be hospitalised for two weeks in 2019.

It’s believed Jessica was starved and was regularly sighted on the streets begging for money.

She left Queensland at a healthy weight of 81kg and was returned to her family at 31kg.

Ms Brimble said she was unaware of where her daughter lived as Jessica was secretive about her location.

She said she felt helpless as she had little contact with her daughter as her mobile phone was destroyed.

On some occasions, Jessica would contact her mum begging for pizza so Ms Brimble would order it over the phone for Jessica to pick up.

“It’s not the Jessica that I raised, it’s not the Jessica that we know of,” Ms Brimble said.

“I don’t know why she didn’t come home, I now realise through counselling that she couldn’t escape.”

Ms Brimble said she would never forget the day police told her that her daughter had died.

“The Coroner said her body was beaten so badly that she died of pre-existing and new injuries,” Ms Brimble said.

It’s understood that Jessica was found in a bedroom of an Endeavour Hills home with bruises and broken bones.

A Victoria Police spokesperson said her death was being investigated by the Homicide Squad.

“The death is being treated as suspicious at this time, however the exact circumstances are yet to be determined,” they said.

A Coroners Court spokesperson said the investigation was active and no further comment could be made.

Ms Brimble said she wanted Jessica’s killer to be charged.

“It’s been too long,” she said.

“The family is trying to do what is considered normal and get on with life but we just need to be shown that Jessica matters.”

Ms Brimble said she felt “broken” and let down by the police.

“The way it’s been dealt with, it’s like, was my daughter not important enough for her story to be made aware of so other people don’t suffer?” she said.

“Jessica was somebody; a loved daughter, sister, aunty, mother and who she became is not who we knew.

“I need to be shown justice for my girl.”

Anyone with information about Jessica’s death is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
