Police have issued a stern warning to lead foots after a Beveridge man was charged following a lengthy investigation into alleged hooning.
It’s alleged the man was involved in an incident which took place on July 8 last year on Commercial Drive in Lynbrook.
It’s understood a white 2000 Mazda van allegedly performed burnouts and was speeding in proximity to about 100 spectators.
The vehicle has allegedly been linked to four other hoon gatherings over the past eight months in Keysborough, Truganina and Thomastown.
The 24-year-old man was arrested on Thursday and a search warrant was executed at his home. Police allegedly seized a set of cancelled registration plates, knuckle dusters and a laser pointer.
A small amount of drugs including methamphetamine, MDMA, heroin and 1,4-Butanediol were also allegedly found.
The man was charged with a total of 52 offences including reckless conduct endangering life and serious injury, drive in a dangerous manner, criminal damage and commit an indictable offence while on bail.
He was released on bail to appear before the Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
Inspector Dean Grande said people who become involved in hoon activity will be caught.
“Make no mistake, you will not escape police detection,” he said.
“If you are selfish enough to risk the lives of innocent road users by partaking in hoon activity, prepare to get a knock on your door.”
Mr Grande said police “will not rest” until offenders are in custody with some facing up to six years imprisonment.
