An anti-State Government protester has chained herself to the Mornington Police Station in support of a pregnant Ballarat mum who was arrested and charged with organising an anti-lockdown rally.

For Monica Hughes, 72, the arrest was the last straw and she is now calling for an end to restrictions, and for small businesses to be allowed to reopen.

Ballarat mum Zoe Lee Buhler, 28, will face court in January after being charged with incitement over a prohibited gathering due to take place on Saturday, September 5.

PREGNANT BALLARAT MUM’S PARTNER FEARS FOR BABY’S LIFE

“That Ballarat woman is an ordinary person and could have been getting her family ready,” Ms Hughes said.

“She’s pregnant and in her pyjamas.

“This could have been you or me. We’re not Russian spies, or Chinese spies.”

“She was handcuffed with her hands behind her back.

“We’ve never seen the likes of this.”

Ms Hughes said police were not meant to be used in these ways.

“He’s (Premier Daniel Andrews) keeping people in with fear and locked away in their homes,” she said.

“This should be stopped.”

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT ROAD MAP OUT OF LOCKDOWN

But Ms Hughes said she believed the virus was contained and being correctly traced.

“The virus is contained now. The government has got a hold on it,” she said.

Ms Hughes said the community should be released from lockdown on the planned date – September 14 – and the government should focus its energy on the infirm and vulnerable.

“I’m 72 and as healthy as can be,” she said.

“I don’t want to listen to this rubbish anymore … Why are they feeding us this bullshit.

She said the people who died had health complications and were already “very ill”.

“I don’t need looking after,” Ms Hughes said.

“We know what he’s (Mr Andrews) is doing. It’s divide and conquer.”

She said this was the worst hit to businesses she had ever seen.

“Six weeks is long enough. He (Mr Andrews) asked us for six weeks and we’re done what we can do,” Ms Hughes said.

“The small businesses, shops and schools should be thrown open and all back to normal.”

She said there were a lot of people who did not agree with what the Government was doing.

“This should not be happening,” she said.

“Australia is the land of commonsense but where is our commonsense now?” she said.
